How HomeShape Works
HomeShape turns your home’s maintenance into a simple, climate-aware calendar. Here’s what each part does and how to use it.
Your Zone Calendar
When you sign up, HomeShape places your home in a climate zone based on where you live. Your 12-month calendar is built from that zone — so a homeowner in Phoenix sees a different plan than one in Minneapolis. Every task on your calendar is timed to your actual climate, not a generic checklist.
The calendar is laid out one card per month, with tasks listed underneath. Each task shows a title, a short description, and a due date — either the 1st or the 15th of the month.
Checking Off Tasks
Every task has a small checkbox next to it. Click it once a task is done — it fills in green, the task title gets a strikethrough, and it’s saved right away. This works for any visitor, whether or not you’ve created an account.
Add to Your Calendar App
Click 📅 Add to My Calendar to download a file that imports directly into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or Outlook. Every task comes in as its own reminder on the right date, so you don’t have to keep HomeShape open to get the nudge.
- The download adds the whole year at once. If you change something on your HomeShape calendar and download again, re-importing it will duplicate every task instead of replacing the old ones — your calendar app won’t clean those up for you, so you’d need to delete the old entries yourself.
- Changes you make on HomeShape (adding or editing a task) will show up if you download and import again — but deleting a task on HomeShape does not delete it from your personal calendar. You’ll need to remove it there by hand.
Print / Download PDF
Click 🖨️ Print / Download PDF to generate a personalized, branded calendar you can print or save — one page, with your name, zone, and every month listed.
Free Account & Login (No Password)
Creating an account unlocks editing — acknowledging, adding, and changing tasks on your own calendar. HomeShape doesn’t use passwords. Instead, it sends you a one-time login link by email:
- Click 🔓 Unlock Calendar Editing (or 🔑 Log In if you’ve already claimed your calendar).
- Confirm the email address for your calendar in the box that appears.
- Click Send Login Link.
- Open the email HomeShape sends you and click the login link inside it.
- You’re back on your calendar, now signed in — you’ll see a “✓ Logged in” badge and an Edit button appear.
To sign out, click Log Out in the same spot the Edit button was. Once you’re logged out, the calendar reverts to whatever tasks HomeShape originally placed there (minus anything you’ve deleted) — any personal tasks you’ve added stay saved, but stay hidden, until you log back in.
Adding & Editing Tasks
Once you’re logged in, click ✏️ Edit at the top of your calendar to turn on edit mode. While it’s on:
- A small pencil icon appears on each task — click it to open that task for editing.
- A dashed + Add Task button appears at the bottom of every month.
Clicking either one opens a panel on the side of the screen with:
- Month — which month the task falls in (changing this moves the task).
- Title — the task name.
- Description — optional details (see the tip below).
- Due date — the 1st or the 15th of the month.
Click Save Task to confirm. When editing an existing task, a Delete button is also available if you want to remove it entirely. Click ✓ Done Editing when you’re finished to turn edit mode back off.
Ask HomeShape AI
Click 🏠 Ask HomeShape AI to open a chat panel where you can ask questions about your home, your tasks, or maintenance in general — right from the calendar page. It reads the Description field on your tasks, including any you’ve added yourself, so filling those in with real details helps it give better answers.
